The Archbishop’s Commission for Racial Justice is sponsoring research into the progression of GMH/UKME leaders at all levels within the Church of England, with a view to improving their experience and removing barriers and is looking for volunteers to take part in the research process.
The level of participation of people of Global Majority Heritage in the Church of England has been a source of concern for a long time. It is important to understand what is happening at different levels. For example, do people of GMH have a harder time in the discernment process, training and curacy and if so, why? Do they struggle more than others to make a transition from curacy to incumbency? Why are there so few GMH people in senior leadership roles in the Church? To what extent do GMH people aspire to contribute to church life through ministry and leadership?
The Archbishops’ Racial Justice Commission has commissioned research to ascertain the facts and the underlying reasons behind them. The research team led by Prof Paul Miller is holding facilitated conversations (i.e. group discussion) and one-to-one interviews. Please use the link below to book a place.
