The campaign targets 25-40 year old parents with young children, as they are shown to be the most confident about reporting child abuse and neglect and the most engaged with the topic of all age groups.
Nationally and locally there is a need for greater public awareness on the issue of reporting child abuse and neglect. Research shows that currently a third of people who suspect child abuse dont act on their suspicions because they dont always recognise signs of abuse and neglect and theyre worried about the implications of being wrong. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the signs to look out for and to encourage increased levels of reporting from members of the public by directing them to childrens services teams as the first port of call.
