A chance to 'unjudge' somone

  • We publish people as open books.
  • We provide a place to ask questions about difficult issues.
  • We present an opportunity to challenge stereotypes.

As part of our Diocesan vision to drive significant cultural and structural change on issues of racial justice, Racial Justice Project Officer Rashida Hartley is organising a Human Library event at St Mary Redcliffe.

The Human Library is a global  innovative and interactive learning platform that helps us to better our understanding of diversity so that we can create more inclusive and cohesive communities. All human books are volunteers with personal experience of their topic. We are currently looking for individuals who would like to be ‘human books’ representing the following themes:

  • Ethnicity
  • Social: immigrants / refugees / victims of hate crime
  • Disability
  • Sexuality

Participating includes training and support from Rashida, as well as a meal on the day (date yet to be confirmed). More details will be available shortly on our website but in the meanwhile if you or someone you know would be interested in volunteering, or if you have any questions about this event, please contact Rashida.Hartley@BristolDiocese.org. We'd love to hear from you!
