St Stephen’s church in Southmead is planning a community celebration for the life of its ‘White Hall’, following the successful sale to Bristol City Council.
If you have stories or photos to share about the hall and what it means to the community, please get in touch with the church here.
“The White Hall has been an enormously important focal point for the community for decades. It housed the St Stephens Community Work Project for some time, as well as feasts and youth clubs and all sorts of wonderful community gatherings."
Before Bristol City Council offered to buy the hall, the building had become unfit for public use and was not eligible for restoration funding.
Through their initial offer letter for the hall, received by St Stephen’s in autumn 2019, the council said the acquisition will: “play an integral part in the wider community regeneration of Glencoyne Square".
St Stephen’s decided the hall would not be sustainable to maintain and completed the sale by January 2022.
