The Bishop of Bristol, Rt Revd Vivienne Faull, is pleased to announce that Revd Elveen Mead has been appointed vicar of Stratton.
Elveen trained at Trinity College in Bristol, leaving with a BA in Theology Ministry and Mission. She has served her curacy with Gauzebrook Group, eight rural churches in North Wiltshire. Elveen became curate in charge in April 2019 and has looked after the churches following the appointment of her training incumbent as Archdeacon of Malmesbury.
Elveen is married to Alex and has two children, one who just finishing university and another who will start their university education this September. Elveen has two dogs, which enrich her life and form the basis of her main hobbies of dog walking and dog training. She also enjoys going to the cinema, dancing and exercise.
She said: “I can’t wait to get to know the parish. There is so much already going on and I want to celebrate and support that while we discern new ways of reaching into our communities.
“These are unprecedented times that we face and it is important to hold on to the hope we have in Jesus Christ, never before in our lifetimes has the message of Good News been needed more.”
Bishop Viv said: “I am delighted that Elveen has been appointed to the parishes of Stratton St Margaret, South Marston and Stanton Fitzwarren. She will offer engaging and enthusiastic leadership, a pastor's instincts, and a passion for mission as these three communities prepare for significant developments to the east of Swindon.”
