I am delighted to hear of the election of Pope Francis I. His concern for the poor, his commitment to evangelisation and his deep humility are clear to all. He brings with him the intellectual commitment of the Jesuit movement which will assist him in his task.Bishop Lee and I greatly welcome his generous comments about Anglicans. We invite fellow Anglicans in our diocese to join us as he begins his ministry to Roman Catholics worldwide. We hope and pray that the separate journeys of our two Churches will continue their convergence under his Papacy.
