A new church was launched on the North fringe of Bristol recently. Concord Church was planted from St Nicholas Bristol, with a vision to serve the new housing developments in the home of the Concorde aeroplane on Filton airfield and the wider North Bristol area.
With an aim to build community for families and young people, Concord Church will establish regular Sunday services, groups, events and courses aimed at those that don't currently go to church.
Alongside this, the church will seek to work with and support those most in need in the locality. St Nicholas, Bristol was itself planted from Holy Trinity Brompton, London in 2018. Led by Revd Toby Flint, it was one of two new city centre churches set up by the Diocese of Bristol, known as resourcing churches, to reach younger generations and plant new congregations.
Concord Church is led by Revd Andy Carter, a curate at St Nicholas, who moved to Bristol with his family in 2016 to train at Trinity College.
Rt Reverend Vivienne Faull, Bishop of Bristol said, “It is hugely exciting that after so much discernment, planning and hard work Concord has now been launched – a sign of new life in Christ and our commitment to plant new congregations. I send my prayers to Andy, and all involved in Concord’s leadership as they seek to connect with those who don’t currently go to church and respond to need locally. May they be a blessing to the community as it takes shape on this historic site!”
