Celebrating festivals

First published 12th September 2010

What happens when Year 6 students feel that they have heard the same story, the same way, every year at festival time? They can think they have learned nothing new since reception, and exciting festivals can become stale and offputting. So how can we keep the stories and celebrations fresh?

Jumping Fish from the Diocese of Gloucester has some imaginative packs which can help create exciting, interactive experiences of Christian Festivals of Easter, Christmas, Pentecost and Harvest.

These can help strengthen links with your local partner Church. Ask your local Church members to create interactive stations around the Church so children can go on trails.

To reserve these packs for collection or to arrange postage, email resource.centre@bristoldiocese.org or call 0117 906 0100.

More resources to help keep fresh ideas flowing can be found in the Festival Matters list from the Diocese of Salisbury.
