The Rt Revd Vivienne Faull, Bishop of Bristol, is delighted to announce that Revd Sarah Hancox has been appointed as the next Priest-in-Charge of St Luke the Evangelist, Brislington.
Bishop Viv said: “I am delighted that Sarah has been called to serve in Brislington. Her move south from Yorkshire resonates with the journey I made from York to the Diocese of Bristol six years ago. I am excited to see what the future holds for Sarah and the community at St. Luke’s. I have no doubt that with God’s help, they will achieve great things together.”
The Ven Becky Waring, Acting Archdeacon of Bristol, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Sarah to the parish of St Luke’s in Brislington. Her clear sense of God’s call to this place, the gifts and experiences she brings, and the faithful community that eagerly awaits her arrival, suggests this move will be a great blessing for all of us. We’re looking forward to her joining us”.
Sarah grew up near Wigan in Lancashire and studied theology at the University of Edinburgh before later going to train for ordained ministry at Cranmer Hall, Durham. For the last 12 years she’s lived in Yorkshire, serving her curacy in Doncaster, and since 2014 she has been Priest-in-Charge and then Team Vicar of St Oswald’s, Methley with Mickletown and St John the Evangelist, Oulton with Woodlesford in the Diocese of Leeds.
Sarah said: “I’m delighted to be appointed as Priest-in-Charge at St Luke’s and am really looking forward to joining the fantastic team at Brislington and seeing what God has in store for us all there.”
