Revd Adam Beaumont announced as new rector of Gauzebrook

The Bishop of Bristol, Rt Revd Vivienne Faull, is pleased to announce that Rev’d Adam Beaumont has been appointed as Rector of Gauzebrook. The benefice covers a rural area in Wiltshire and includes eight lovely churches, some in large villages, others in tiny hamlets. Adam will be leading an excellent lay and ordained team that works in partnership with great local communities and schools.

Adam has been Team Vicar in the Greater Corsham and Lacock Team for five years, holding the post simultaneously alongside that of Deanery Missioner for Schools, Children and Families in Chippenham Deanery. Adam also holds a number of diocesan roles including Assistant Diocesan Director of Ordinands and Bishop's Advisor for Deliverance Ministry, and is a Member of the Diocesan Board of Education and sits on Diocesan Synod. Adam trained for ordination in Bristol and served his title post in Westbury on Trym. Before he was ordained Adam was a Science Teacher and Head of Year at a large secondary school in Winterbourne.

Adam is married to Sheona, an artist and academic with a particular interest in visual culture from a biblical point of view. They have two primary-aged children who are set to be the next Darcey Bussell* and Andy Murray* (*probably), and the newest member of the family is Gus, a black lab who will eat anything. When Adam is not busy with all of the above you will probably find him doing something DIY-like, although he has been also known to play the drums, climb a mountain, ride a motorcycle, and cook a meal or two.

Adam said: “I’m excited about joining the Gauzebrook Group of Churches. It has been a long journey in discerning this move and we are certain that God’s hand has been at play throughout in making this happen. I’m looking forward to loving, learning, and leading in a beautiful part of Wiltshire. Loving new friends, learning what it means for us to be God’s people, and leading a team in reaching out to a variety of communities."

Bishop Viv said: “I am delighted that Adam has been appointed to this role.  I am impressed by the careful and thoughtful way Adam has gone about discerning God’s call to serve in this place.  Adam comes with a wealth of experience of parish ministry alongside a passion for enabling young people to follow in the way of Jesus Christ.  I extend a warm welcome to Adam, Sheona and the children and look forward to seeing what this new season will bring in the life of the Church in the Gauzebrook Group.”
