Green Christian have launched a new discipleship resource to help Christians consider the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the world from a fresh perspective.
They are inviting people to participate in the course by joining one of their weekly facilitated Zoom meetings, or by using the material to host their own series of conversations with a small group.
The course materials are avalaible online here.
Green Christian write:
Covid-19 is forcing existential questions upon us: not only about our own survival or that of our loved ones, but about the deepest values on which our society is founded. Will our civilisation get back to normal? Or was normal already finished? What kind of community are we learning to be? What kind of work really matters? When confinement is over, how do we want to emerge?
Radical Presence is a short programme of conversations, in which we’ll listen for God’s word in this time between worlds. Through the course we will hear from contemporary writers reflecting on the Coronavirus pandemic. We will let this time of social distancing change us, for the sake of the world?
The hope is that participating in Radical Presence will help you:
- develop your understanding of the pandemic and its immediate and long term consequences, from both social and spiritual perspectives
- raise awareness in churches, society and the wider world of lessons to be learned
- ensure that the experience of the pandemic is used to help society respond to other crises the world faces, particularly the climate emergency.
There are two ways to get involved:
- Join a weekly group with members of Green Christian using Zoom, Tuesdays at 7.30pm from 7 July, or Thursdays at 10.00am from 9 July. If you can’t make either of those, you can register for a future round.
- Alternatively, run it with your church, network or organisation using the video-conferencing platform of your choice.
