Praying for those to be ordained - Rev Chris's Story
Rev Chris Hunter will be ordained as a Priest on Saturday 2nd July and will be Assistant Curate in the Benefice of Wroughton and Wichelstowe.
Please read Rev Chris’s story below:
“In many ways, I feel much calmer approaching this service than the one 12 months ago. On that occasion, it was only by repeating the words of Gandalf the Grey to myself, that all we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us, that I made it through the Ordination Retreat and got to the Cathedral at all.
“This year, I find that I have grown in my calling, developed the gifts God has given me, reflected on areas of growth and relaxed in the presence of the Spirit. It has been reassuring to feel the sensation of being exactly where we are meant to be.
“I have loved my first year in Wroughton and Wichelstowe and increasingly felt that I have fulfilled my role with integrity and as myself rather than fulfilling an anonymous role and trying to be someone I think everyone else wants me to be.
“I thank God that he has helped me to that position and that he continues to guide me and my family in our ministry and our vocation.
"I now find myself repeating the words of Yoda, not to look to the future or the horizon but to focus on where I am and what I am doing. I am looking forward to finding how this journey continues as I learn what it means to be a priest.”
Look out for tomorrow's story!
