Erica Bebb was ordained Deacon in July 2009 and priested on 3 July 2010. She is a curate at Sea Mills. Here she reflects gratefully on the opportunity for ordination.

Little did I think when I moved to Bristol twenty one years ago to support my husband in a career move that I would be ordained Deacon in our magnificent Cathedral. The Anglican Church has always been a big part of my life, and I thank God for the privilege and blessing. My training at STETS has been rather like having a child later in life, unexpected yet awesome. I am passionate about Jesus Christ, community, performing arts and the value of encouragement. May God enable me to successfully integrate these motivations as I serve him and others.

There have been challenges but love has never failed to meet any gap. I have learnt that my God will fully satisfy every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).

One year on, Erica shares her feelings regarding her first year of ordained ministry.

In my journey over many years, I have experienced challenges, hard work, mountain top experiences, surrender and overwhelming peace. I struggle to find words to express the depth of the privilege of the last year since being ordained Deacon. It is an honour to have access into peoples lives. Please pray for me, that I always remember "love never fails" (1 Cor 13:8).
