The Diocesan Synod meets at the Deanery CE Academy on Saturday 16 November between 9.30am and 3pm.
The Synod will be full of discussion and debate. It will include with two motions arising from Deanery Synods related to the Real Living Wage from Swindon and declaring a Climate Emergency from City Deanery.
The Climate Emergency debate forms part of a fuller discussion of our response to the environmental and climate change challenges we face. A new Environment and Climate Emergency Policy will be brought for debate as well as examples of what is happening around the Diocese.
As it meets in the newest Church School in the Diocese, the Synod will be considering how we can help grow faith amongst children, young people and households through schools. Synod members will learn more about how the Dioceses vision, priorities and plans are being reviewed and developed for 2021 onwards. There will be a crucial debate on the diocesan budget for 2020. The level of expenditure agreed will lay the foundations for future plans and determine how we resource the mission of the Church together across the Diocese.
With reports from Bishops Council, General Synod and a key note address from Bishop Viv, this Synod marks a significant moment in the life of the Diocese.
