The Rt Revd Vivienne Faull, Bishop of Bristol, has ordained 22 candidates as priests and deacons during four services at Bristol Cathedral over the past weekend.
On Saturday 3 July, 11 candidates were ordained as priests. This is an important moment in their ordination journey and follows a year spent working alongside an experienced priest as an assistant curate.
On Sunday 4 July, 11 candidates were ordained as deacons. This starts their first year as assistant curates and each will begin working alongside an experienced priest in the diocese.
Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, the services had limited capacity and were live-streamed on Bristol Cathedral’s YouTube channel and social media accounts for family and friends to watch from home.
The Rt Revd Vivienne Faull, Bishop of Bristol, said:
“It was a joy and a delight to ordain our new deacons and priests on Saturday and Sunday. During the services we welcomed them as servants of the gospel and ambassadors of Christ. We now send them out to minister in communities stretching from Bristol to Swindon and including parts of South Gloucestershire and North Wiltshire. May they indeed be servants and ambassadors of the one who died so all may live.”
