First published 28th July 2016

A Pastoral Scheme creating two new benefices of Fromeside and Frenchay and Stapleton has been made.

The scheme took legal effect on Wednesday 27 July, 2016. The new benefices consist of:

Fromeside which includes the parishes of Winterbourne; All Saints, Winterbourne Down; Frampton Cotterell; and Iron Acton. The rector of this benefice (as of 8 December) will be the Revd Malcolm Strange.

Frenchay and Stapleton which includes the parishes of St John the Baptist, Frenchay; and Stapleton. The rector of this benefice is the Revd Charles Sugden (effective immediately on 27 July).

The four existing benefices of Winterbourne, Frampton Cotterell and Iron Acton, Frenchay and Winterbourne Down, and Stapleton no longer exist. All the clergy who were licensed to those former benefices will be relicensed under the new arrangements.

A special service to mark the creation of the two benefices will take place during August.
