Prayer in thanksgiving for the Queen’s reign

by Rt Reverend Dr Lee Rayfleld, Bishop of Swindon

As we celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee this coming weekend, we wanted to share this special prayer from Rt Reverend Dr Lee Rayfield, Bishop of Swindon.

“Sovereign Lord of all time and space, tonight we give thanks to you for the witness to your Kingdom which has been shown in the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.

In her commitment and service of the people of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth of Nations she has trusted in your ways and endeavoured to shape her words and actions after the example of your Son Christ Jesus.

We bless you for her integrity, and for the moments in which she has shared her sorrows both with us and for us. We thank you for her willingness to bear the weight of authority invested in her and fir her resilience and courage.

As we celebrate with her this remarkable moment in the reign of a British Sovereign we ask that you would continue to uphold her and sustain her. Continue to bless her and through her to bless us until her calling moves to the realm where you are known eternally."

Amen.
