New Archdeacon of Bristol Collation and Installation

Bristol Cathedral hosted a wonderful celebration at Choral Evensong on Sunday 1st September 2024 at which the Venerable Becky Waring was collated as the Archdeacon of Malmesbury by Bishop Viv and installed as an Honorary Canon of the Cathedral by the Dean, the Very Revd Mandy Ford.

Becky brings a wealth of experience from her work in the private, voluntary, and charity sectors, where she has focused on enabling and equipping people. She has served in various parish roles, including lay, self-supporting, and incumbent capacities, and held diocesan positions such as Adviser for Lay Ministry and Warden of Readers. Most recently, she has served as Vicar of St Martin's Knowle, Area Dean of Bristol South, and Acting Archdeacon of Bristol.

Becky said, “I am so pleased to be appointed as the next Archdeacon of Bristol. This is a vocation I believe God has called me to fulfil, and having undertaken the role in a temporary capacity for the last six months, I feel excited about all that lies ahead.”

In her role as the Archdeacon of Bristol, Becky will play a key role in supporting both clergy and laity to achieve the Church’s mission of maintaining a Christian presence in every community in England. She will also assists various churches and ministries in their work of following Jesus, serving others, and transforming communities.

We hold her in our prayers as she embarks on this new chapter of her ministry.
