More than 2000 paper doves are now flying high inside St Augustine’s Church, Swindon to mark the recent National Day of Reflection on 23rd March and to commemorate the huge loss of life during the Covid pandemic.
The stunning doves have been created with help from pupils at Even Swindon Primary School and the artwork has been named ‘Hope Springs Eternal’ and will cherish the memories of loved ones lost over the past two years.
The day of reflection was organised by cancer charity, Marie Curie to support the millions of people bereaved during the past two years and includes online events, walls of reflection and a minute's silence which took place at noon on March 23.
The day ended at 8pm when the public were invited to come together and shine a light outside or in their window, using candles or lanterns to remember someone who has died.
Thank you to all the pupils from Even Swindon Primary School for this beautiful creation!
