On Tuesday, 2nd June, Saltmine Theatre Company delighted pupils at two schools across the Diocese with lively, interactive performances. Taking children on an inspiring journey through the Bible, the shows centred on discovering the life found in Jesus. The shows were fun, memorable and accessible, with many children sharing just how engaging and enjoyable they found the experience.

The performance travelled through a wide range of bible stories and began with Daniel and the Lion's den before moving to Zacchaeus the tax collector, The Garden of Eden, Moses, Jonah, and Esther, as well as Jesus crucifixion and resurrection. The stories were linked by a search for the tree of life, which the characters eventually find at the crucifixion.
These joyful performances were made possible thanks to the generosity of the St Nicholas & Leonard Trust.
Performances took place at Fishponds CE Primary school and Cathedral Primary School. Some of the children at Fishponds said:
"It linked back to all the stories in the Bible really great. It was funny and the actors were really good."
"It taught me lot of stories from the Bible that I didn't know."

Laura Harris, Deputy Director of Education at the Diocese of Bristol said:
A fantastic day, and lovely to watch Bristol children of all ages and stages finding joy and fascination in the Bible stories brought to life. The Saltmine team were able to share the stories of the life of Jesus and the Old Testament in a way that had meaning for everyone and gave pupils a brilliant chance to experience live theatre at the same time. Just joyful.
After the show at Cathedral Primary School, pupils were eager to share their highlights. Hands shot up across the room as children spoke enthusiastically about the costumes, songs and energy of the performance.
