The Bishop of Bristol, Rt Revd Vivienne Faull, has appointed Revd Steve Dyson as Associate Vicar in the Kingswood and Hanham Team Ministry.
Situated on the eastern fringe of Bristol, the parishes are a diverse mix of urban and suburban communities. Steve will work collaboratively with others to reach out in mission and grow disciples.
Steve has been Vicar at St Lawrence’s Church, Biddulph in Staffordshire Moorlands for the last four years. He trained for ordination at Trinity College, Bristol and then served his title post back in his sending Diocese of Exeter in the Clyst Mission Community, a group of five Parishes just outside Exeter. Before he was ordained Steve worked in mental health as a community based support worker, prior to that he was a youth worker with an adventure in Swaziland (the kingdom of Eswatini) for a year.
Steve is married to Eley, a peripatetic music teacher, singer, musician, worship leader and enthusiast of all things creative and expressive. They have three daughters Lydia, Abigail and Naomi, two of whom were born in Bristol.
The Revd Steve Dyson said:
“What attracted me to the role was the remit to ‘be creative and take risks’ in seeking to help the churches in engaging with their communities and in particular young people and families. As a family we come as a team, Eley and the girls have much to contribute and we look forward to making our home in East Bristol. We can’t deny that we will be arriving in the most bizarre and challenging of times but we sense that in God’s grace there is also much opportunity for creative thinking and new ventures and adventures on the way.”

It is not an easy time to be starting a new role so I pray that the whole family will settle in well in what is evidently a bit of homecoming!”
