Response from the Diocese of Bristol to National Church Investment Announcement

The Diocese of Bristol warmly welcomes the Church Commissioners’ announcement of a significant £1.6bn investment over the next three years. We are particularly encouraged by:

  • The additional distribution from the Church Commissioners, which will bring much-needed support to local churches and parish clergy;
  • The efforts to simplify financial flows between the National Church and dioceses, which will help reduce administrative burdens and improve clarity;
  • The planned increase in support for clergy, recognising the vital role they play in the life of our communities;
  • The continued and enhanced support for lowest income parishes, which is essential in sustaining ministry in areas of greatest need.

These announcements help the Diocese to bridge substantially increased costs alongside challenging actual and projected income, beyond existing plans.  The Diocese remains committed to working collaboratively with our parishes and the National Church to establish a sustainable and flourishing future for ministry across our Diocese.
