On Sunday 7 November, the Rt Revd Dr Lee Rayfield, Bishop of Swindon, confirmed eight people at a service held at St Peter & St Paul, Great Somerford.
"After the absence of a confirmation service in North Wiltshire last year it was great to welcome eight confirmation candidates, their friends and families and Bishop Lee to the newly-refurbished church at Great Somerford. I was encouraged to see a good range of ages represented by those who were confirming their baptism vows."
During confirmation, a person confirms the promises they made when they were baptised (or that were made for them if they were baptised as a baby). The bishop lays hands on the person’s head, and asks God’s Holy Spirit to dwell in their hearts, equipping them to journey deeper into the way of Jesus Christ.
The diocese’s next confirmation service will be on Monday 15 November, at St James, Mangotsfield.

Congratulations to those who were confirmed!
