Petertide Priest and Deacon Ordinations 2026

Across two services over the weekend of 4/5 July, eight new Priests and eight new Deacons were ordained in Bristol Cathedral by the Rt Revd Neil Warwick, Acting Bishop of Bristol and Bishop of Swindon. The group of new Priests and Deacons come from diverse backgrounds and bring with them a rich tapestry of experiences, gifts, and callings.

In the weeks preceding their ordinations, the new Priests and Deacons stories were shared online, giving people across the Diocese the oppotunity to hear about their journeys to ordination. You can read their stories by clicking the buttons at the bottom of this page.

In a video shared online, Bishop Neil said:

“The promise of God to love everybody, every person in the whole world, is condensed into a moment when people are ordained to serve the Church as Deacons or as Priests. When that's happened, and we've seen that happen, then there's an outbreaking of clapping and cheering and joy because we notice, in that condensed moment, God's goodness and the call on the lives of those people."

Following their ordination, we celebrate not only the personal journeys of faith of those ordained but also the communities that have walked alongside them. We pray that their ministries will continue to grow and flourish as they serve with compassion, wisdom, and joy. We give thanks for their courage in answering God’s call and pray that their priestly ministry will be a blessing to all they encounter.
