The Diocese of Bristol is pleased to share that The Revd Canon Peter Huxtable has been licensed as Team Rector of the Yate Benefice.
Revd Peter was licensed by the Rt Revd Neil Warwick, Acting Bishop of Bristol and Bishop of Swindon, at St Mary’s, Yate, on Wednesday 4 March.

Peter was ordained in the Diocese of Worcester in 2001, following training at St John’s College, Nottingham. Prior to ordination, Peter worked in office and database management, and then in software development. He served for 4 years as Curate in Kidderminster, before returning to Nottingham as Vicar of Emmanuel and St Mark’s Bestwood. In 2010 he and his family moved to Stapleford, where Peter was Vicar across the 3 churches of the parish for 11 years. He also served as Area Dean for 5 years, helping develop a new model of ministry across some city estate parishes. In 2021, he moved to a dual role, as Bishop’s Advisor for Urban and Estates mission and as Priest in Woven St Martha’s estate church. Over the past year, Peter reprised his role as Area Dean.
Speaking about his new role, Peter said:
“I am very much looking forward to taking on the role of Team Rector in Yate. There is so much scope to build on the great work already being done across the 4 churches, to help each congregation flourish and to make some great links into the community and the schools as we share the good news of Jesus. I look forward to joining the Diocese, meeting new colleagues and sharing prayers, hopes and dreams towards the growth of the kingdom of God in this new part of the country for us.”
Bishop Neil said:
"Peter is an experienced and mission minded Priest and we’re delighted he’s here."
