The Diocese of Bristol is pleased to share that, in October, the Revds James Manning and Juliet Dellow were commissioned as Curates in Charge of their respective benefices.
Revd James Manning
The Revd James Manning was commissioned as Curate in Charge in the benefice of St Peter Bishopsworth and St Oswald Bedminster Down by The Venerable Becky Waring, Archdeacon of Bristol at St Oswald’s Church, Bedminster Down on Sunday, 11 October.

James spent 25 years in London as a chartered building surveyor before training for ministry at Sarum College in Salisbury while based at St Luke’s Church, Barton Hill. James was ordained in 2023 and moved to St Peter’s, Bishopsworth for his curacy. He is passionate about community engagement and about taking church beyond the walls of our buildings and into everyday life.
Speaking about stepping into his new role, James said:
"Having served my curacy at St Peter’s, I’m delighted to be staying in Bishopsworth and to be joining the community at St Oswald’s in Bedminster Down as Curate in Charge. It is a privilege to be part of two communities with such strong roots and faith. I’m honoured to walk with St Peter’s and St Oswald’s on their journey through this time of vacancy, and to discover together what God has next for both churches."
Revd Juliet Dellow
The Revd Juliet Dellow was commissioned as Curate in Charge in the benefice of St Matthew and St Nathaniel, Bristol by The Venerable Becky Waring, Archdeacon of Bristol at St Matthew’s Church, Kingsdown on Sunday, 18 October.

Juliet has worked as a primary school teacher and a in range of roles in the charitable sector including at churches and a foodbank, spending over 17 years living and working in Easton. She trained for ordained ministry at Sarum College in Salisbury and was ordained Deacon at Bristol Cathedral in 2024 and Priested in 2025. She has worked as Curate at St Matthew’s Church since 2024.
Juliet said:
“Since being ordained and starting work as a curate I feel that I’ve tried on a new coat that fits me perfectly. It has been such a pleasure to work with Ian Tomkins over the last two years, I’ve learned so much from him and we’re sad to see him leave. It’s such a joy to be able to step into the role of Curate in Charge at the church, I feel so supported by both the church and many people I’ve encountered on my journey so far. I’m excited to see where God is calling us as God’s family in St Matthew’s in this new season.”
We give thanks for James and Juliet and pray for their flourishing in the coming months as they serve and share the love of God in their new roles.
