Churches across England are invited to apply for the Digital Growth Programme 2026, a national initiative designed to equip churches with the digital, strategic and communications skills needed to make the most of opportunities during Advent and Christmas, and beyond.
Following a successful pilot programme last year involving 30 churches, the National Church has refreshed the format for 2026. This year's training will take place as a dedicated online learning day, giving participating churches plenty of time to put their learning into practice ahead of the Advent season.
What is the Digital Growth Programme?
The programme offers churches the opportunity to receive tailored support from the national Digital, Giving and Vision & Strategy teams through a series of interactive online sessions and resources.
Participants will:
- Receive practical support tailored to their church context
- Develop skills in social media, digital communications and content creation
- Learn how to plan, deliver and measure digital engagement activities
- Explore ways to build stronger connections with their communities during Advent, Christmas and into the New Year
- Share ideas and learn alongside other churches from across the country
The programme is designed for churches of all levels of digital experience. You do not need to be a digital expert to take part, just willing to learn, try new approaches and explore how digital tools can support your mission and ministry.
Key dates
The main training event will take place online on: Friday 25 September 2026
The day will consist of a series of interactive webinars, bringing together expertise from across the National Church.
Participating churches will also be asked to commit to a follow-up session in January 2027 to reflect on their experiences and share what they have learned.
Who can apply?
The programme is looking for churches that are committed to engaging with the training from September onwards and are willing to share feedback and learning after the Advent and Christmas season. Whether your church is already active online or just beginning to explore digital engagement, this programme provides a valuable opportunity to learn new skills and develop confidence in reaching people in your local community.
