BS3 Jammin’ is an annual weekend event for the BS3 community to donate their surplus locally grown foods to be cooked, pressed or preserved, to reduce food waste and raise money for the BS3 Community Food Bank. The event takes place at St Paul's, Southville and will be held on the weekend of 19/20 September.
BS3 Jammin' describes itself as: "All about bringing people together to harvest, cook, press, preserve and celebrate the abundance of locally grown food. A weekend of community, creativity and reducing food waste where everyone is welcome."
Volunteer chefs, including Mark Chapman from Cor Restaurant, Elliott and Tessa Lidstone from Box - E Restaurant, Masterchef contestant Woei Lee and Bristol City College’s Bill Bennet Clark cook all weekend as members of the public help with food prep and learn from the chefs.
Other activities include apple pressing, following the 'Pick your own' Map around BS3, finding out what’s growing in the area, a cooking competition (where the only rule is to use something from the harvest), an educational compost stall, arts and crafts and more!
