Bishop Viv ordains new deacons and priests at Bristol Cathedral

Over the weekend, the Rt Revd Vivienne Faull, Bishop of Bristol, ordained 9 candidates Priest and 8 Deacon at Bristol Cathedral. Family, friends and the wider Christian community gathered to celebrate and mark this moment in the lives and ministries of those being ordained.

Bishop Viv said: “The ordination services were a testament to the wonderful response to God’s call to ordained ministry, filling the Cathedral with joy. Join me in praying for the newly ordained, their parishes, and their training incumbents as they embark on this sacred journey.”

The Revd Dr Simon Taylor, Director of Mission and Ministry Support at the Diocese of Bristol said: “This has been a great weekend celebrating the beginnings of new ministries in the church across the diocese.  Seeing this richly diverse group of women and men from different parts of the diocese, different theological traditions, bringing different gifts and insights gives me great hope for the future of the church. I thank God for them all, and look forward to supporting them as they continue to follow Jesus, serve others and transform communities in the Diocese of Bristol.”

Candidates ordained Deacon on Sunday 30 June 2024 at Bristol Cathedral were:

  • The Revd Jason Lee

  • The Revd Charlotte Stansfield 

  • The Revd Helena Whitwell 

  • The Revd Joanne Winson 
     

In addition, the Revd Tim Davies was ordained priest by the Rt Revd Paul Thomas SSC, Bishop of Oswestry, in a service in Bristol Cathedral on Monday 1 July.
