Each year, from 1 September to 4 October, the Church of England marks Creationtide, or the 'Season of Creation'. During the period, churches are encouraged to celebrate the work of Christ in creating all things, alongside paying special attention to our shared responsibility for the Earth and everything that lives in it. This year, the theme for the season is 'living water', and the Church of England has created a series of ways to get involved with celebrations.

The theme of living water is taken from the imagery in Ezekiel 47:1-12 of God’s life-giving water flowing from the temple, growing deeper, restoring barren land, reviving waters, and sustaining flourishing ecosystems. Churches are invited to reflect on the wonder of creation and explore how we can protect it. To support congregations with this, the Church of England's Environment team have put together a number of resources to help us read, watch, listen and discuss the themes of Creationtide.
Everyday Faith app reflections
Everyday Faith is the daily devotional app from the Church of England designed to inspire, equip and encourage you in your faith every day of the week.
From 31 August to 5 September, you can hear daily reflections from six different contributors from across the Church of England, each focusing on creation. The reflections can also be listened back to at a later date.
Bible studies
A series of authors, including a Bishop, theologians and lay-leaders, have produced six bible studies designed for use in churches or small groups, helping you engage with Scripture and key themes from Hope for All Creation.
The studies look at both Old and New Testament passages and include both personal reflections and questions to discuss in your group.
The Great Switch for Creation
A campaign encouraging churches to switch to a green energy tariff: a small but powerful step to reduce your environmental impact.
The Church of England guidance provides a simple guide to switching to a green tariff and their team can assist you if you need support.

Christ Church Swindon to host National Online Service on first ever Feast of Creation Sunday
On Sunday, 6 September, Christ Church Swindon will host the Church of England's national online service. The pre-recorded service will be broadcast on the CofE's social media channels as well as on YouTube and will include the special liturgy and prayers produced for the brand-new feast day.
Christ Church Swindon was chosen to host the service because of their commitment to environmental causes and creation care. In 2025, the Church was awarded an A Rocha Eco Church Gold Award for their commitment and action to protect the environment. This made them the third congregation in the Diocese of Bristol, alongside Hazelnut Community Farm and St Peter’s Henleaze, to receive the award.
The church also has a passionate Eco Church group, who recently contributed to the 'Swindon Churches Green Festival' and hosted a showing of the Peoples Emergency Briefing. In addition to this, the Church has a Churchyard which has been relatively undisturbed for over 150 years, provides a rich diversity of grasses, flowers, birds and animals.
The service will go live on the Church of England's YouTube channel on 6 September.
