Churches from across Bristol have taken part in an annual open air church service in a Downend park. Congregations from Downend and Bromley Heath, Mangotsfield, Emersons Green and Staple Hill headed to King George V playing fields for the C in the Park event earlier this month.
The day, which is now in its fifth year, combines a service with entertainment and games for the surrounding communities.
Schools and groups were invited to perform throughout the afternoon on a stage set up in the park.
Neil Todman, senior pastor at Hedley Park Church, spoke to the crowds with singing led by Pendennis Church and Music Group together with children from Mangotsfield CofE Primary School. Other activities included large inflatables, crafts, games and sports.
Sally Sibley, who has been involved in organising C in the Park for the last four years, said: This event is a gift to the local community and is funded by the churches taking part with support from the local councils.
In this time of uncertainty, we wanted to offer hope to people living and working in this part of Bristol so we gave this years event the theme of peace.
It was a wonderful day when we were able to connect with each other, our community and God.
Churches involved in C in the Park, which took place on Sunday 3 July, included Resound, Christ Church Downend, The Sanctuary Church, Badminton Road Methodist Church, St James Church, Bridge Community Church, Downend Baptist Church, Pendennis Good News Church, Staple Hill Salvation Army and Emersons Green Baptist Church.
