Advent and Christmas Resources 2021

At the heart of Christmas logoThe Church of England has released a range of digital and print content to support local churches in celebrating Advent and Christmas this year. This year's theme is At the heart of Christmas. It will consist of 12 stories and meditations from Justin Welby, Stephen Cottrell, and guests.

Inspired by readings from the Gospels of Luke and John read at so many Christmas services, At the heart of Christmas is an invitation to everyone to discover – or rediscover – the good news of God’s saving love as revealed in the birth of Jesus. It is also a challenge to each of us to ponder in our hearts – as Mary did – what the extraordinary events of the first Christmas might mean for us now and in the years ahead.

Each day between Christmas Eve and the Epiphany (6 January), Justin Welby, Stephen Cottrell, and guests will share something that lies close to the heart of Christmas for them, through personal stories, Bible readings, reflections and questions to think about.

The national team is also collaborating with a range of Christian charities and organisations to produce online services for the Sundays of Advent and Christmas, which will be broadcasted on the Church's YouTube channel and Facebook page.

As in previous years, bookmarks, Christmas cards, banners, flyers, posters, booklets and other printed items are available for churches to purchase here, and churches are encouraged to list all their in-person and online services and events on AChurchNearYou.com.

Find out how to make the most of your church's digital presence at Christmas time with an online webinar on 13 October 10–11am.
