Parish Safeguarding Co-ordination Officer Dorcan Church, Swindon

Who are we?

We are the Dorcan Church in East Swindon, serving the community through our two worship centres – St Paul’s, Covingham and St Timothy’s, Liden.  Both of the centres are busy places, and we offer a number of activities including Tiny Tots groups, two community drop-in cafés, youth club, Messy Church and we have an active and flourishing ministry into our local primary schools.  Additionally, our larger centre at St Paul’s hosts a number of community events through the hire of our premises.

The role

Good safeguarding practice is central to our mission and ministry, with over 50 of our church family safely recruited to ministry with children and young people.  Whilst we have a sound foundation in safeguarding, we are conscious that we need to review and update our processes and procedures.  We are therefore looking for someone to join the team for four months to help us with this task, and to implement and monitor our safeguarding practices across the church.

We approach our safeguarding responsibilities as a team, and you will be joining a dedicated and amazing team.  As well as having your own areas of responsibility, you will co-ordinate and oversee the team’s discrete areas of responsibility, ensuring excellence and good practice across our safeguarding function.
