Rhythm of Life - October

The Franciscan Way

The life of St Francis is well known. His deep experience of God led him to believe firmly in God’s protection and provision. He followed literally the words from Christ to ‘give away possessions’ and to ‘build my church’; his was a day-to-day dependence on God’s provision."

Welcome to your tasters for October.

Francis is perhaps best known for his vow of poverty and his deep love for those on the edge of society. Having grown up as a very wealthy young man he was called to renounce wealth to obey Christ. Richenda models for us how the practice of gratitude brings peace and lifts our eyes away from possessions to relationships. Compassion and love for others are one of the key hallmarks of Fransican spirituality. In your journey this month pray that God will open your heart to see those around you as he does. Ask Him to fill you with the same love for all you meet.

So, time to begin.

Doing - Get stuck in

In this section you can download simple, clear instructions on how to get started:

Watching - Learning from others

We've asked people to try out some of practices to share their experiences of how they have helped them to connect with God in new ways:

Richend Milton Dawes is a third order Franciscan. Watch and listen as she describes how practising thankfulness helps her spiritual journey.

Going Deeper - a month considering action:

Jesus calls us to love our neighbours as we love ourelves. In this month's guided exploration we start with Old Testament and Jewish insights into Godly action. We reflect on the relationship between law and grace; and the qualities of compassion and generosity. In the final week we will learn lessons from social action initiatives in our region:
