Listening to Learn: Diocese of Bristol Launches New Insights Project

As part of our ongoing commitment to building a Church where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and included, the Diocese of Bristol is launching a new focused insights project. This work builds on findings from the Behind the Stained Glass report, which explored the participation of UK Minority Ethnic (UKME) and Global Majority Heritage (GMH) individuals in ministry and leadership across the Church of England. You can read more about the report below.

What’s it all about?

Running from July to October 2025, the project will invite UKME/GMH clergy, lay ministers and church wardens to anonymously share their experiences of:
•    Wellbeing
•    Daily lived experiences in working with the Church
•    Outreach and recruitment
•    Leadership and development
•    Any other thoughts or ideas you may have

Why it matters

🗣️ Be Heard. This is a chance to reflect, speak honestly, and feel heard.
💡 Make a Difference. Help shape the Diocese’s future action plans for greater inclusion and equity.
🔍 Recognise the Good. We’ll spotlight what’s working — and what we can strengthen — so that racial justice becomes a lived, daily experience in every corner of our diocese.

What’s involved?

There are a range of ways to contribute, from brief surveys to small group conversations. Time commitments are flexible and your voice will help to shape current and future Diocesan action plans. To register your interest, fill in our online form and we will be in touch with you shortly.
