The life of the Cathedral
Bristol Cathedral is much more than this fascinating building. It is a
centre of Bristol's history, civic life and culture. It is the
Cathedral Church of the Diocese of Bristol, which stretches from
Bristol to Swindon. All are welcome. Our many visitors range from major civic bodies to poor and distressed individuals.
Whatever the reason of your visit, and whatever your faith - especially if you have little or none - we welcome you. This glorious building speaks of of centuries of human aspirations and a reaching after that which we call 'God'.
Please make some time during your visit for quiet and reflection. The Cathedral is always busy, but there are two places which are specially kept as peaceful as possible.
- The Newton Chapel, where lighting a candle helps many to pray
- The Elder Lady Chapel, where the Sacrament is reserved
